ENGLISH 22
(A.K.A. ECOCRITICISM 101)
WEEK #10 ASSIGNMENT
Readings:
As with Week #9, this week there is no separate set of readings.
Instead, all of the readings are on the Prezis for Lecture #19 and #20 – and thus accordingly are featured in the YouTube videos for these two lectures. As it may be difficult to read these long quotes during the video lectures, it will likely be easier to read them directly on the PDFs of the lecture notes for Lecture #19 and Lecture #20.
Since there is no separate set of readings for this week, think of these PDFs as the weekly reading assignment. Note that you will be tested on this material just like any of the readings.
Lecture videos:
Please watch both Lecture #19 and Lecture #20 below.
If you will be out of Internet access, you can download these videos on Vimeo: Lecture #19, Lecture #20.
If YouTube is blocked in your country, the two lectures have also been uploaded to GauchoSpace (GauchoCast).
The Prezi for the lectures is also below for your reference.
PDFs are also available for the lecture notes (i.e. the Prezi material) for Lecture #19 and Lecture #20, as are PDFs of the transcripts for Lecture #19 and Lecture #20.
(If you are confused about the role of the Prezi or PDFs in the course, or how to use them, please watch the “Introduction, Format” lecture located on the Introduction page.)
Film:
Please watch the documentary Capital in the Twenty-First Century. It is available on GauchoCast.
Film assignment: after watching Capital, please watch Ken’s video on YouTube introducing it and comment on his video.
Weekly Assignment/Assessment:
Please note that both the reading and lecture assignments need to be completed by 6 AM on Monday, December 14. GauchoSpace will close the lecture quizzes at that time. Also note that the film comments need to be submitted by 11:59pm PST on Sunday, December 13. Any film comment made on YouTube past that point will be considered late.
Reading and Lecture assignment:
After completing the weeks reading and watching each of the two lecture videos, please go to GauchoSpace and take the short quiz on that lecture, which is located in the weekly section.
Film assignment:
Please comment on YouTube on Ken’s video Capital.
Please note, while you can watch this video on this page, you need to go to YouTube to comment in the YouTube comment section.
If YouTube is blocked in your country, Ken’s short talk will also be uploaded to GauchoSpace (GauchoCast) and a forum has been opened under this week on GauchoSpace for you to make your comment there (rather than on YouTube).
