Seminar for Introduction to Literature and the Environment<\/em><\/p>\n

Eng 22S is a small seminar for a select number of students (usually around 12) enrolled in English 22. It is designed to enrich the large lecture experience for the motivated student. The seminar can include either supplementary reading or more intensive study of the English 22 reading list.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 After taking this class\/section I feel like I have a much greater understanding of how my actions\/ the actions of others impact the environment and people on a global scale. I am now confident that I have the knowledge to make better decisions to reduce my impact on the environment and that I can influence others to do the same.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 I have found this course to be extremely interesting and have enjoyed the discussions we have had as a class. It has really helped me have a greater understanding of the material and a new appreciation for environmental literature.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 The class was bot informative and engaging and very student-centered. The professor was very knowledgeable about the subject matter.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 A very engaging class with a lot of valuable information. I really enjoy how the class is formulated like an argument and takes you through various points, but some may dislike the format. For the honors section, I think the conversations are great, but lack direction and I would appreciate more fleshed out questions either posed by you or by the students.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 This class introduced an entirely new concept to me\u2014ecocriticism. I have a lot of experience with other forms of literary analysis, but an environmental perspective never even occurred to me, and that is primarily why I\u2019m glad to have taken this course. Professor Hiltner is extremely likable and cool and I enjoyed each section with him.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 I thought the section was interesting and we covered topics, but I wish they were more structured so that it could be more engaging. I liked being able to discuss general environmental issues that weren\u2019t directly addressed in lecture. Thank you for a great quarter!<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663\u2663 I like the material but the readings get repetitive. I feel like I have a good understanding of the material, but some of the discussions do not offer any new insights.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663 The course often led to an abundance of new knowledge in terms of factual evidence but lacked the varying interpretation and perceptions of texts that I was looking for. Rather than truly focusing on the meaning of the text, it seemed as if we were only ever discussing if we liked or did not like something.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663 The topics and ideas presented, while interesting, were often hard to follow due to unenthusiastic\/dry lectures that were often hard to hear, even from the first few rows. Although Hiltner seems very nice and smart, I did not love lecture due to the fact that I found listening to him to be difficult.<\/p>\n

\u2663\u2663\u2663 I really enjoyed the Honors section and learned a lot as we went deep in discussion of the lecture\u2019s topics. The class itself is boring and the honors section should be open to more people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
