This week\u2019s reading is the\u00a0Green New Deal<\/a>\u00a0(i.e. Resolution #109 of the U.S. House of Representatives, 02\/07\/2019)<\/p>\n

Please watch \u201cThe Green New Deal, explained<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cWhy you still don\u2019t understand the Green New Deal<\/a>,\u201d which are both short\u00a0VOX<\/em>\u00a0videos, as well as \u201cA Message From the Future With Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a>.\u201d All are on YouTube.<\/p>\n

Lecture videos<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are three required lectures this week:<\/p>\n

First, please watch this lecture by Ken, \u201cPersonal action, climate activism, or becoming politically active. Which matters more?”<\/a><\/p>\n

Note that you\u00a0are not<\/em> required to post comments to this video, even though there are hundreds of responses to it. These posts are from 2019-20, when responding was a requirement of the course, which it is not in 2020-21.<\/p>\n

Second, please watch\u00a0both<\/em>\u00a0of these \u201cDeep Dive\u201d lectures by Ken:<\/p>\n

1) Cowspiracy and Wasted<\/a>\u00a0 (The written comments to which Ken is replying can be found here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2) Project Drawdown<\/a> (The written comments to which Ken is replying can be found here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Weekly Assessments<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please note that assessments need to be completed by 6 AM on Monday, February 22. <\/em>GauchoSpace will close the lecture quizzes at that time and any film comment made on YouTube past that point will be considered late.<\/p>\n

After completing the week’s reading and watching all three of the above lecture videos (the one short lecture and the two deep dives), as well as watching all three short documentaries for this week, please go to GauchoSpace and take the short quiz for this week, which is located in the weekly section.<\/p>\n

Reading Response<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After reading the Green New Deal, please watch Ken\u2019s video \u201cSocial justice, environmental justice, climate justice, and the injustice of it all<\/a>\u201d and comment on it.<\/p>\n

If you cannot view the above video on YouTube (for example, if YouTube is blocked in your country):<\/p>\n
