The Epic of Gilgamesh<\/em> makes a brief reference to rape. Although the reference is short (just three lines) and is not graphic, it is nonetheless disturbing. Lecture #2 draws attention to this reference and unpacks it.<\/p>\n

Lectures will be shown from 11:00am -12:15pm on Tuesday & Thursday in Campbell Hall. Lectures start promptly at 11:00am and run for the entire period. Attendance will be taken via iClicker.<\/p>\n

Film<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please watch either<\/em> the documentary Before the Flood<\/em> or An Inconvenient Sequel<\/em> according to these guidelines:<\/p>\n

1) If you have not seen Before the Flood<\/em>, please watch it. It is available for viewing on GauchoSpace (GauchoCast). If you are not enrolled in the class, it currently streams from Netflix<\/em>, as well as can be rented for a relatively modest fee from YouTube, Amazon, Google, etc.<\/p>\n

2) If you have already seen Before the Flood<\/em>, please instead watch An Inconvenient Sequel<\/em>, also available on GauchoCast. If you are not enrolled in the class, it can be rented for a relatively modest fee from YouTube, Amazon, Google, etc.<\/p>\n

3) Since we will be considering each, feel free to watch both videos.<\/p>\n

After watching one of the above films, please watch the below short lecture by Ken: Intro Before the Flood<\/em> and<\/em> An Inconvenient<\/em> Sequel <\/em>and then comment on this short lecture on YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Note that, while you can watch this video on this page, you need to go to YouTube to comment in the YouTube comment section.<\/p>\n

Also note that while Ken’s introduction covers both of the above films, you only need to comment on the film that you watched. However, if you have already watched Before the Flood<\/em>, please feel free to reference it in your comment on An Inconvenient Sequel.<\/em><\/p>\n
